Toyotas Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries are considered "non-hazardous waste" [See "high voltage electrical systems" ]. Toyota has had a battery recycling program since 1998 and even offers dealers a $200 bounty to ensure batteries arent just thrown away (described at end of linked document). Are the batteries recyclable?

The Think City was short-lived in the States with production halting in 2002 after just 1005 cars had been assembled. Toyota still has not made any money on the Prius. I see the technical complexity of hybrids is finally coming home to roost at Toyota, which has superb engineering. safety requirements. Does that bother you?

GM will leapfrog Toyota and Honda by providing an electric car to the masses by the end of next year. If the EV1 was viable (or even close) we would see Ford, Toyota, Honda, etc all with 80 mile cars right now.do In the meantime, Toyota and Honda will eat their lunch while GM pushes both E85 and pure electric. you see that?
