UPS announced the purchase of 130 next-generation hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) to add to its growing alternative-fuel vehicle (AFV) fleet. The 130 hybrids all will be deployed next year, with 30 going to New York and New Jersey and 100 to California.

Federal EV Tax Credit To accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), the US Government offers a federal EV tax credit of up to $7500 to anyone purchasing or leasing an electric car. Federal EV Tax Credits for Plug-in Electric and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles Purchased in 2023 or After April 18, 2023.

In the US, customers will be able to take advantage of Mirai’s $499 per month/36 month lease option, with $3649 due at lease signing, or purchase the vehicle for $57,500. With combined state and federal incentives of $13,000 available to many customers, the purchase price could potentially fall to below $45,000.
