Umicore last week inaugurated its carbon-neutral production facility for cathode active materials (CAM) for electric vehicles in Nysa, Poland. The Nysa plant is fully powered by renewable electricity from a nearby onshore wind farm, enabling Umicore’s carbon-neutral growth ambitions.

The selected projects are located in Bulgaria, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Sweden. Another one located in Poland will create an end-to-end carbon capture and storage chain starting from CO? capture and liquefaction at a cement plant to storage in offshore sites.

On a PSM, the rotor of the AC motor is fitted with permanent magnets and therefore does not need to be supplied with power. The magnets—and thus the rotor—follow the rotating alternating current field in the stator windings. In the EQS SUV, Mercedes-Benz uses a pull-in winding for a particularly strong magnetic field.
