Volkswagen , Nissan , and Hyundai have moved to produce the kinds of cars that can use such bidirectional chargers—alongside similar vehicle-to- home technology , whereby your car can power your house, say, during a blackout, as promoted by Ford with its new F-150 Lightning. Those arguments are not yet settled. But big automakers like.

While I was aware of this trend — I see it loud and clear in my own neighborhood — I hadn’t realized how wide-spread this trend actually was in the US. In my own neighborhood I see several EV drivers with long cables from Level 2 chargers in the garage, and extension cords presumably from a 120 Volt outlet. Volker, Calvin G.

Its published results showed the average Chevrolet Volt PHEV drove 9100 miles a year on electricity compared with the average Nissan Leaf all-electric car driving 9500 miles a year on electricity alone.
