Chrysler calls it a “multipurpose vehicle,” but we will stick with modern minivan. The only minivan with a plug. kilowatt onboard charger will replenish an empty battery to the maximum 32 miles driving range in about two hours using a 240-volt Level 2 charger. Expect about 14 hours with a regular, 120-volt household outlet.

The 2025 Volkswagen ID.Buzz electric minivan has been coming to North America for a long, long time. On the other hand, it’s a minivan with sliding side doors. Iconic design, two-tone paint, three rows, AWD; whatever you call it, the Buzz won’t be cheap. It’s been on sale in Europe for a year, as has the Cargo commercial-van variant.

That’s not surprising—the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, the company’s only previous plug-in hybrid, is a well-executed PHEV with an EPA-rated 32 miles of usable electric range that retains all the virtues of the Pacifica minivan. The two couldn’t be more different. Default: hybrid, not EV. Instead, Hybrid is the default mode.
