Open Source Civic EV Kit

After spending the past year and a half converting a Porsche 914 to an electric vehicle, I decided to expand my horizons by designing an open-source electric vehicle (EV) conversion kit for a commonly used car. I wanted a project that the group could share their collective brain power and rally around.

Here goes (in no particular order): Things That Went Well During the Conversion The 914 AC kit from Electro Automotive is a good one. I modified the wiring in the original 914 AC kit (as suggested by Paul Jorg) to turn on the regen when the brake lights came on instead of controlling regen by releasing the accelerator pedal.

Until recently, the four main modular toolkits (modularen Baukästen) of the Group were: the MQB (transverse, driven by the Volkswagen brand); the MLB (longitudinal, driven by the Audi brand); the MSB (standard drive, driven by Porsche); and the NSF (New Small Family). With that flexibility, we can use the total power of the market.

Spy the back end at the wrong angle and it could be the lovechild of a Porsche 993 and Ford AU Falcon. This means that, unless you’re planning a road trip across rural Montana, you should always be able to find a charging station before you run low on power. Recharge stations are becoming more common, too.
