Alaska Airlines to be Gevo’s commercial launch partner for renewable alcohol-based jet fuel

Gevo has signed a strategic alliance agreement with Alaska Airlines to purchase Gevo’s renewable jet fuel and fly the first commercial flight on alcohol-to-jet fuel (ATJ). The single demonstration flight is expected to occur after Gevo receives ASTM International certification for its fuel, sometime in mid- to late-2015.

Velocys sells its second commercial license for FT renewable diesel and jet technology to Red Rock Biofuels

Enough jet fuel will be produced by the plant to fuel 1,800 round trips per year from Portland, Oregon to San Francisco. RRB has in place contracts from several airlines (Southwest Airlines and FedEx as offtake partners) to purchase 100% of the jet fuel produced each year. It will also help to regenerate the local forestry industry.

EEI encourages utilities to spend at least 5% of fleet acquisition budgets on plug-ins

IEA: Electric vehicles posted strong gains in 2016; 2M now in global parc
