The Moroccan government is in talks to attract more electric battery manufacturers as it seeks to adapt its growing automotive sector to an increasing demand for electric vehicles, industry and trade minister Ryad Mezzour said. The automotive sector tops Morocco’s industrial exports at USD 14 billion in 2023, up 27%.

After an engineering study, Managem Group plans to invest in the construction of a factory located within the Guemassa industrial complex, Morocco in order to transform cobalt ore into cobalt sulfate. Japanese carmaker Nissan Motor plans to introduce its e-power hybrid technology car in Tunisia, its Africa head said on Tuesday, as part of plans to test demand in the African market for electric vehicles. Nissan’s e-Power technology system includes a petrol engine with a power generator, inverter, battery and an electric motor.
