Battery charge and power are maintained at high levels and the battery is not subject to heat damage caused during recharging. A direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) uses liquid methanol rather than hydrogen. This significantly increases productivity by eliminating the labor and equipment costs associated with battery swapping.

Among its trials of advanced or alternative fuel technology, the Postal Service is: Delivering mail on a trial basis using three-wheel (T3) electric vehicles in Florida, California and Arizona. The T3 is powered by two rechargeable batteries, has zero gas emissions and costs 4 cents a mile to operate.

If youre a stickler for electric vehicles, there is an electric scooter that will travel up to 60 miles and can be recharged in 3 hours. The Piaggio MP3 is a three wheeled maxi-scooter already being sold in the USA! My Vespa scooter gets 100 miles to the gallon and can carry two people and two bags of groceries under the seat.
