Among its trials of advanced or alternative fuel technology, the Postal Service is: Delivering mail on a trial basis using three-wheel (T3) electric vehicles in Florida, California and Arizona. The T3 is powered by two rechargeable batteries, has zero gas emissions and costs 4 cents a mile to operate.

Technologies that are eligible for selection include PHEV and similar extended range electric vehicles (EREV), Electric Vehicles (EV), or fuel cell vehicles (FCV), and the recharging and electric support infrastructure required for each technology. The duration of the vehicle demonstration is a minimum of two years up to three years.

A PUMA runs on lithium ion batteries, can reach 35 miles per hour, and can travel up to 35 miles between charges. One of them is bringing out a nice looking 4-passenger electric with a 110 mile range. Sure beats Detroit, same old, same old gas buggy, and anothe Purple PLUM, whoops PUMA, two wheel, or is 4wheel, kiddy car.
