One thing is for sure; - electric cars bring down the air pollution, but they sure create another waste pollution problem. at least, the recycling infrastructure for the well-established lead-acid batteries is robust. None of the new electric cars are planning to use old-tech lead acid batteries. In the U.S.

You guys go ahead and buy your 40 mile per charge GM golf cart. it was the first batch of EV1s that they tried to use lead acid batteries and developed problems. check your facts.
