Gasoline demand was up 0.4%, but, for the first five months of 2012, was 0.6% Weak growth in the United States, stubborn unemployment, and a world economy doing little better than treading water are contributing to this. US gasoline production of 9.092 million barrels per day was above 9.0 below the same period a year ago.

The Energy & Environmental Research Center ( EERC ) at the University of North Dakota has been awarded a subcontract by Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) to help produce renewable jet fuel from algae. Isomerization and cracking to achieve a jet fuel specification-compliant mix of branched hydrocarbons.
