Porsche, Siemens Energy and partners are developing and implementing a pilot project—the “Haru Oni” project—in Chile that is expected to yield the world’s first integrated, commercial, industrial-scale plant for making synthetic climate-neutral fuels (eFuels). Porsche will be the primary customer for the green fuel.

The Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid completed the recent 1,000 km of Zhuhai in China ahead of all other GT cars and with fewer stops for gasoline. Zhuhai marked the last of three endurance races for the Porsche Hybrid in 2010. At the core of the hybrid system is Williams Hybrid Power’s (WHP) flywheel energy storage unit.

Bosch does not believe there is just one powertrain solution for the future; most of the cars on the world’s roads are still running on diesel and gasoline, and things will stay that way for the rest of the decade, Bohr noted. Only the diesel engine will achieve this in the compact class, but the gasoline engine will come close.
