Asked why not Nickel Metal Hydride batteries in the Volt, at least to start, he says "NiMH just doesn't do it." Interestingly, Lutz says GM is being approached by NiMH manufacturers to use this proven battery chemistry in the Volt. And if Lithium proves problematic, he says GM will again consider NiMH. But hold on.

Out in the desert as part of Burning Man , our encampment, Snow Koan Solar, is setting up a solar photovoltaic EV Charging Station (at 7:30 and Desert) for electric scooters, golf carts, sofas and barstools. The 2012 Camry again offers three powertrain choices, all of which have been enhanced for 2012 to provide better fuel economy and more responsive performance: a revised 2.5L, 4-cylinder gasoline engine; an enhanced 3.5-liter However, Toyota reports reduced electrical losses in the new Camry inverter as well, compared to the first generation.

kWh Li-ion pack enabling an electric range of up to 15 miles (24 km) at speeds of up to 62 mph (100 km/h), according to Toyota. Toyota’s goal was to reduce the cost, weight and volume of the pack from the NiMH system used earlier. Maximum electric range is 15 miles. L/100km equivalent and 4.8 L/100km, respectively.

GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. Shifted earlier focus to all-electric Focus in 2011 with Magna. Company says its focusing on gasoline and hydrogen. todays answer is "Yes -- but not yet."
