Monthly fuel economy of the retrofitted Honda Civic during the first 9 months of the fleet test. DOE researchers attributed the significant fuel economy reduction for May, June, and July as most likely being due to significant mountain driving and the likely use of the vehicle’s air conditioning. The US Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy today released the 2010 Fuel Economy Guide, which gives consumers information about estimated fuel costs and mileage standards for model year 2010 vehicles. For MY 2010, the Prius is the top fuel economy leader , with EPA ratings of 51/48 mpg city/highway.

The new Honda Fit EV at UC Davis is located at West Village Square right across the street from West Village’s other Zipcar, a Honda Insight, in front of “The Hub Market.” Zipcar’s vehicles now include hybrids, electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and other EPA SmartWay Certified and LEED Certified cars.

If you want to be picky, the 198 6 Sprint ER was the gas-mileage king of 1980s America, rated at 44 city and 53 highway miles per gallon. The 1987 Sprint ER came in second place, due to its insatiable thirst for go-go juice on the highway (51 miles per gallon). The Sprint ER shouldn't be compared to modern hybrids or EVs, though.
