Honda Motor Company will introduce a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) and a new plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) to the US market in 2012, said President & CEO Takanobu Ito in his mid-year address in Tokyo, Japan. The City of Torrance will also receive a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle for evaluation by the end of 2010.

Honda unveiled the all-new 2013 Fit EV at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and announced plans to begin leasing the battery electric commuter vehicle in the US in the summer of 2012. Honda will monitor market acceptance, but expects volume at this early stage of production to be approximately 1,100 Fit EV’s over the next three years.
