For the 107 th Running of the Indianapolis 500 on 28 May, Bridgestone has incorporated ISCC PLUS certified recycled butadiene, a monomer produced from hard-to-recycle used plastic shopping bags, film, stretch wrap and other flexible polymer packaging, developed in partnership with Shell, in all Firestone Firehawk race tires used at the event.

In addition to supplying guayule race tires, Bridgestone will also partner with Penske and Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) to transport all Firestone Firehawk race tires to IMS via a Freightliner eCascadia from Penske Truck Leasing’s fleet of electric vehicles during the month of May.

Lordstown Motors said today it will be bringing the Endurance all-electric pickup to the Association for the Work Truck Industry’s (NTEA) Work Truck Week event in Indianapolis, Indiana from March 9 to 11. Lordstown Motors hangs on by a thread, increasing costs and decreasing outlook.

Verizon and VIA Motors will collaborate to develop and to demonstrate plug-in electric work vehicles using VIA’s proprietary eREV (extended range electric vehicle) technology ( earlier post ) and evaluate the technology for possible wide-scale application into Verizon’s fleet. XL unveiled its plug-in hybrid electric Ford Super Duty F-250 pickup truck ( earlier post ) at the NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis. The energy is then transferred back into the drivetrain through an electric motor which helps propel the vehicle during acceleration, reducing fuel consumption, CO 2 emissions and brake wear.

At the 2023 Indianapolis 500 on May 28 in Indianapolis, Indiana, all 33 cars will be running on Shell 100-percent renewable biofuel, using carbon neutral motor oil, and rolling on Firestone Firehawk tires made with recycled plastics. The 107th running of the 2023 Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for Sunday, May 30.
