The changeover to the new engines is taking place at Scania’s production units in South America during the second half of 2011. Revisions include improvements on the intake and exhaust manifolds; EGR system; turbochargers; pistons and cylinder liners. AdBlue is contained in a separate tank on the chassis.

Ti-VCT applies variable cam timing to both the intake and exhaust camshafts of its DOHC design, using electronic solenoid valves to direct high-pressure oil to control vanes in each of the camshaft sprocket housings. To keep overall powertrain weight as low as possible, the block, cylinder head and oil pan are aluminum castings.
