The US Department of Energy (DOE), through its Advanced Vehicle Testing Activity ( AVTA ) at Idaho National Laboratory (INL), has completed 1 million miles of plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) testing. PHEV operations often occur with minimal pre-trip charge events – “they run even if not plugged in”. million charging events.

Spent the day at the press event and setup for the Santa Monica AltFuel Expo, being held in conjunction with the LA Auto Show. I should feel heartened that battery electrics predominated, if you include NEVs and bikes. The production of Neighborhood Electric Vehicles and electric bicycles is picking up.
