GM is using five used battery packs from Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric cars to help power the new General Motors Enterprise Data Center at the Milford Proving Ground. Even after the battery has reached the end of its useful life in a Chevrolet Volt, up to 80 percent of its storage capacity remains.

Now, Ford is adding another benefit: vehicle-to-vehicle charging using the Ford-exclusive Pro Power Onboard 240-volt outlet. General Motors today announced initiatives for customer satisfaction and outlined its steps in battery safety research to ensure ongoing confidence in the safety of Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric vehicle. Concurrent with upcoming deliveries of the Chevrolet Volt to dealerships in California, Connecticut (Tri-State Metro Area), Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Texas, and Washington, D.C., Volts will be shipped to Chevrolet dealerships with 40% HV battery state-of-charge and two gallons of fuel.

Horsepower is 452 for the standard range version and 580 for the extended range truck, and the torque for both versions is 775 pound-feet.
