Normally during a heat wave, people have the option of escaping their homes and seeking cooler temperatures in public spaces like libraries, coffee shops, and stores. COVID-19 changed all that. It made finding relief from the heat logistically difficult.

The potential is enormous because the current grid has sufficient energy capacity to supply every vehicle in the United States if every one of them was a PHEV. In addition, the inevitable escaped natural gas contributes more severely to warming the planet. To ignore this potential is wasteful and foolish. This energy is wasted.
