EPA Grants California Vehicle GHG Regulations Waiver

The US Environmental Agency (EPA) has granted California’s waiver request enabling the state to enforce its greenhouse gas emissions standards (Pavley I) for new motor vehicles, beginning with the current model year. California requested from EPA the waiver required for implementation of the Pavley regulations in December 2005.

These grants are available when a vehicle is either purchased or leased for 36 months or longer. While in EV Mode, the Prius Plug-in is rated by the EPA to drive up to 11 miles. In hybrid mode, it has an EPA combined mileage rating of 50 mpg. It’s also capable of traveling up to 62 mph (100 km/h) using electric power alone.
