SpaceX has successfully tested all 27 engines on the first stage of its fifth Falcon Heavy rocket and says the vehicle could launch as early as January 14th. At full throttle, Falcon Heavy Block 5’s 27 Merlin 1D engines – nine per Falcon 9-derived booster – can produce 2326 tons (5.13 USSF-44’s static fire.

SpaceX appears to have delivered hardware that will eventually become part of the first 33-engine Super Heavy booster to its South Texas ‘Starbase’ factory. Starship’s central ‘thrust puck’ is just two or so meters in diameter and designed to support the ship’s three gimballing Raptor Center (RC) engines.

NASA engineers predicted that to carry out missions beyond Mars, the space agency needed more sensitive antennas. A new X-band cone was installed. The antenna had a 26-meter-diameter dish. Along with two other antennas at JPL and in Spain, DSS-42 obtained the first close-up images of Mars. DSS-42 was retired in 2000.

In a virtually unprecedented feat of engineering and rocketry, SpaceX appears to have installed a full 29 Raptor engines on Starship’s first flightworthy Super Heavy booster in a single evening. Come shift handoff around 6am, 27 Raptors had reportedly been installed in 12 hours.

The first two vehicles available for AMP conversions are the GM Saturn Sky and the GM Pontiac Solstice. AMP will use the Remy HVH250 electric motors in their custom electric vehicle conversions.
