The European Community’s air pollutant emission inventory report released by the European Environment Agency finds that in 2007, sulphur oxides (SO x ) emissions were down by 72 % from 1990 levels. EU-27 emissions of all four pollutants were lower in 2007 than in 2006.

Neste Oil is building a system for recovering emissions released when loading ships at the harbor of its Porvoo (Finland) refinery. The new facility will reduce the refinery’s overall hydrocarbon emissions significantly as gasoline loading at the refinery’s harbor are the site’s single largest source of VOC emissions.
