According to provisional data published by the European Environment Agency (EEA), the average CO 2 emissions from new passenger cars registered in the European Union (EU) in 2018 increased for the second consecutive year, reaching 120.4 For the first time, the average CO 2 emissions from new vans also increased. g CO 2 /km.

According to the new Guide , 24 countries levy car taxes partially or totally based on the CO 2 emissions and/or fuel consumption of a vehicle.

The provision of the 507 i-MiEVs to the Estonian government was concluded between Mitsubishi Corporation and the Estonian government this past March as a part of an agreement to purchase 10 million tons of emissions rights. MMC plans to complete shipment of the entire order to Estonia by the end of the 2011 fiscal year.

The vehicle order stems from an emissions trading agreement signed by a number of Japanese companies with the Government of Ukraine. Since its launch in 2013, the Outlander PHEV has recorded cumulative sales of 80,768 units (as at the end of 2016), and has ranked the best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle in Europe for four years in a row.

Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) will provide 507 units of the i-MiEV electric vehicle manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors (MMC)—the largest single provision since sales of the EV started—to the Estonian Government. The 507 units will be shipped to Estonia by end of fiscal 2011. A hat-tip to Jarmo!

Official emissions have decreased by a total of more than 22 g CO 2 /km (-16%) since 2010, when an updated monitoring system started under the current EU legislation. g CO 2 /km, new cars sold in 2016 emitted more than 23 g CO 2 /km above the 2021 target, according to the provisional emissions reported by Member States.
