No one, but no one, needs a 2023 Cadillac Escalade V-Series. There’s a beast of a motor underhood – a supercharged 6.2-liter I never had the chance to really push this Escalade on a challenging road – the one rural two-lane I drove on served up only gentle curves – so I can’t tell you if this behemoth handles like a Blackwing.

A new technology may take the already quite clean (especially compared with engines of just a little more than a decade ago) engines to a level that reduces smog-producing emissions while increasing fuel economy and yet not losing any performance. The software upgrade doesn’t require any hardware changes to the motor or vehicle.
