Built for Honda by Peterbilt Motors Company, the EPA Smartway-certified Model 386 hybrid truck is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by almost 45 tons per year, as compared to its diesel counterpart. The hybrid truck uses a parallel diesel-electric hybrid system developed by Eaton Corporation.

has added 92 hybrid-electric trucks to its delivery fleet by converting standard FedEx delivery trucks to hybrid-electric systems. The hybrid conversions took place in Charlotte, North Carolina over the last six months and were developed with Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) and Eaton Corporation. These standard trucks used in the retrofit programme were models from 2000 or 2001 with 300,000-500,000 miles on the clock.
