Spanish language side of the DEED event promotional notices inserted into 23,000 Manteca utility bills. The members of EAA San Joaquin Valley (EAASJV), largely held back from holding in-person events since the chapter’s founding in 2019 due to the pandemic, were determined to make their 2022 Drive Electric Earth Day event a rousing success.

Much earlier in the chapter’s history, member Otmar Ebenhoech, who would go on to create the Villa DC Motor Controller, made a strong impression on the DIY community using DC motors. Chapter member Ian Wright cofounded Tesla then later founded Wrightspeed, a company that built large hybrid trucks in San Jose. Then we disbanded.

Offering the Santa Cruz as a hybrid would allow it to equal the Ford Maverick compact pickup for fuel efficiency. Being able to fit four full-size adults in the cabin makes it ideal for making it your camping or other outdoor adventure vehicle, or those quick runs to the DIY store. The payload and towing numbers are more than adequate.
