Daimler Trucks continues deliveries of the FUSO eCanter, its fully electric light-duty truck. Among the new customers is Calor, one of UK’s best-known gas suppliers. Like its diesel-engined stablemate, the eCanter is a compact and agile 7.5-tonner.

Daimler has concluded customer field trials with eight pre-production Fuso Canter E-Cell electric trucks ( earlier post ) in Portugal. All eight vehicles travelled the roads of Portugal and were permanently monitored and analyzed during the one-year field trial. A Canter diesel truck burns about 14.08

ABB has secured a contract with Spanish shipbuilder Astilleros Gondán to supply the all-electric power solution for fast 40-meter urban passenger ferries transporting up to 540 passengers each across Lisbon’s Tagus river. The 10 new ferries will be operated by the public ferry company Transtejo, S.A.

Total greenhouse gas emissions in the European Union (EU) increased by 0.7% Less coal was used to produce heat and electricity but this was offset by higher industrial and transport emissions, the latter increasing for the fourth consecutive year. From 1990 to 2017, the EU reduced its net greenhouse gas emissions by 21.7%.

A ban on all petrol and diesel-powered vehicles made its way through the European Parliament on Tuesday, February 1. The EU formally approved a law that would ban the sale of combustion engine vehicles by 2035 in an attempt to accelerate consumers’ choice of electric powertrains. I’d love to hear from you!

In Europe, a new report from the European Environment Agency (EEA) found that the average car sold in the EU in 2012 was 9% more fuel-efficient than the average three years before, due to improved technology and an increase in the share of diesel cars. Those who indicated that their current gas mileage was 24 mpg (9.8 CFA report.
