Detroit now has a quarter-mile length of roadway with the ability to charge properly equipped electric vehicles as they drive. While similar programs have been pioneered in Europe, Detroit is the first and only city to do so in the United States. Detroit may play host to influential companies with deep pockets.

Chevy is finally beginning sales of its long-anticipated Equinox EV, but before then, I got an invite to Detroit to test it out for myself. Plus, the Equinox offers 319 miles of range. GM estimates that the FWD versions of the Equinox EV will deliver 319 miles of range on a single charge. Level 2 rates peak at 11.5

We went to Detroit recently to see Bob Lutz. Lutz lives in a spread that can best be described as “bucolic,” in a quietly lovely suburb outside of Detroit. Bob didn’t emote too much over the state of the car industry and Detroit as a whole, but, surprisingly, his wife did. We found Bob smoking a cigar on his Segway.
