After some significant debate at the Civic-EV Google Group on whether to use a clutched or clutch-less system, I'm going to pursue using a clutched system for the initial revision of this kit. Here's a picture of the bolt pattern I scratched from a purchased Civic flywheel. The resolution is 300x300 dots-per-inch.

I lost much sleep last night obsessing about how I could fix the DC-DC converter and, as a result, I was very tired and had an irritable day. I find out this morning from Ross Cunniff (who also recently completed the 914 AC kit), that he has had ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS with his CCPower DC-DC converter.

After seeing the movie Who Killed The Electric Car , I got the nutty idea earlier this year to purchase an all-electric vehicle to commute to work. I was going to purchase an NmG from Myers Motors , but found the driver compartment a bit crowded and the driving range limited (only about 40 miles).

Here goes (in no particular order): Things That Went Well During the Conversion The 914 AC kit from Electro Automotive is a good one. I modified the wiring in the original 914 AC kit (as suggested by Paul Jorg) to turn on the regen when the brake lights came on instead of controlling regen by releasing the accelerator pedal.

For families, the bottom line is usually more important than dual motor acceleration or fancy seat trim that kids just wipe muck over anyway. Charge time from 10-80 percent is 32 minutes when using a public DC fast charger. Range is a very good 460km, energy use is 16.2kWh, and maximum DC charging rate’s a not-great 85kW.

On minor disappointment is that the cable supplied in the kit is #2 gauge cable. He converted his 914 with the Electro Auto DC kit and challenged me to a duel at NEDRA.
