New Zealand-based LanzaTech has successfully produced 2,3-Butanediol (2,3-BD), a key building block used to make polymers, plastics and hydrocarbon fuels, using the company’s gas fermentation technology. LanzaTech has shown 2,3-BD production from waste gas resources in an industrial setting.

California Air Resources Board (ARB) staff has posted five new Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) fuel pathway applications to the LCFS public comments website: two for biodiesel, one for renewable diesel, and two for ethanol. Neste calculates the CI for RD from New Zealand tallow to be 36.57 g CO 2 e/MJ.
