kWh NiMH plug-in hybrid (PHEV) conversion kit that enables all-electric mode driving at speeds of up to 70 miles per hour (until the battery pack is depleted) in a converted Prius. Some previous Prius plug-in conversion kits allowed motorists to go as fast as 52 miles per hour using a “forced stealth” mode.

After spending the past year and a half converting a Porsche 914 to an electric vehicle, I decided to expand my horizons by designing an open-source electric vehicle (EV) conversion kit for a commonly used car. All the commercially available freeway-capable (70 mph) EVs are priced way out of reach for the average consumer.

The new Porsche plug-in hybrid always starts in purely electric mode and drives without generating any local emissions within a range of around 50 kilometers and a maximum speed of 140 km/h (87 mph). Now, the electric motor and gasoline engine interact in harmony from the beginning. kWh, its weight has remained the same.
