The Liquid Wind consortium in Sweden has selected Worley to provide basic engineering services for one of the world’s first commercial-scale eMethanol facilities. Each plant will upcycle 70,000 tons of CO 2 annually to produce 50,000 tons of eMethanol.

Sundsvall Energi will partner with Liquid Wind to be the host and provide carbon dioxide for the second commercial-scale—100,000 t—electrofuel facility in Sweden. —Claes Fredriksson, CEO and Founder of Liquid Wind. Liquid Wind’s facility will be constructed on Sundsvall Energi’s Korstaverket site.

Swedish Climate Leap, “Klimatklivet”, is investing €15 million in power-to-fuel Liquid Wind’s facility, FlagshipONE, producing eMethanol. The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency works on behalf of the Swedish government, conducting and coordinating Sweden's environmental work within Sweden, the EU and internationally.

Carbon Clean, a developer of low-cost carbon capture technology, has entered into an agreement with power-to-fuels developer Liquid Wind. Within the Liquid Wind facility, the CO 2 will then be combined with renewable hydrogen to form the carbon-neutral liquid fuel, eMethanol. The partnership has ambitions for future sites.

The ferry will be designed around the requirements of Shapinsay in Orkney where hydrogen fuel is generated through wind power. The group will also draw upon its sister company, Longitude Engineering’s long track-record and reputation in vessel design, upgrade and conversions, to support the HYSEAS III project.

The selected projects are located in Bulgaria, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Sweden. Another project in Sweden will create a first-of-a-kind methanol plant converting CO?, Another project in Sweden will produce a new fiber from pulp to substitute polyester in textile applications.

The Swedish start-up Liquid Wind recently launched a second crowdfunding campaign and has already raised 1,000,000 SEK (US$102,000). Liquid Wind is developing its first commercial-scale eMethanol facility in Sweden and plans to establish 6 facilities by 2030 before expanding internationally.
