After spending the past year and a half converting a Porsche 914 to an electric vehicle, I decided to expand my horizons by designing an open-source electric vehicle (EV) conversion kit for a commonly used car. There are already commercially available kits with excellent, detailed instructions for how to convert a vehicle.

There's not much special about this project other than I'm trying to collect the information together into an open-source kit.

I've mentioned before that I'm working on an open-source EV kit. Today I drove out to the U-Pull-It wrecking center and took a bunch of pictures of '92-'95 Honda Civics to see how I could design battery racks for them. The 914ev blog might be winding down as I put more time and energy into the open-source project with its own blog.
