CPKC orders 3.6MW of Ballard fuel cells for expansion of hydrogen locomotive program

In June, CPKC and CSX Corporation announced their intent to enter into a joint venture for the building and deployment of hydrogen locomotive conversion kits for diesel electric locomotives. As an initial step in the collaboration, CSX plans to convert one of its diesel locomotives using a hydrogen conversion kit developed by CPKC.

EQT launches pilot program to convert Marcellus drilling rigs to LNG

Appalachian area natural gas producer EQT Corporation launched a pilot program to begin converting drilling rigs to liquefied natural gas (LNG), displacing the diesel used to power equipment at the well site. The LNG being used for EQT’s pilot program is produced locally from Marcellus natural gas reserves.

Virginia Governor signs legislation and executive order beginning transition of state vehicles to natural gas, electricity or other alternative fuels

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell has signed two pieces of legislation that promote the use of natural gas, electric or other alternative-fueled vehicles in the Commonwealth.
