The all-new, production version of the 2019 Insight ( earlier post ) will make its global production debut at the 2018 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). Honda estimates the Insight will deliver up to 55 mpg (4.27 Total system output is 151 horsepower and 197 lb-ft (267 N·m) of electric motor torque.

Honda will leverage EV hardware in a new all-wheel drive system for future hybrids, while also targeting two million annual EV sales by the end of the decade, according to a Thursday business update from the automaker. Under this strategy, for example, the Honda Insight will be replaced by a Civic Hybrid.

Toyota also previewed the vehicle this weekend in Los Angeles via its “Prius Connection” program for select early adopters and enthusiast forum participants, attracting potential buyers from across the US and Canada. A parking pawl is also part of the assembly, which is connected to a differential with a final drive ration of 3.267:1.

Two years on, its questionable as to whether that tag can still apply, but there’s no denying the appeal of the production version of this model. The Honda CR-Z is intended to be sporty, efficient and inexpensive and will feature the same Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) as the Honda Insight Hybrid.
