The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released the Second Integrated Urban Air Toxics Report to Congress—the final of two reports required under the Clean Air Act (CAA) to inform Congress of progress in reducing public health risks from urban air toxics (also referred to as hazardous air pollutants or HAPs).

Ford notes that the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid’s projected fuel economy tops its nearest competitor—the 2010 Lexus HS 250h—by 6 mpg, while providing room for one more passenger and more standard luxury and segment-exclusive safety features. The combined gasoline engine and electric motor provide 191 net horsepower (142 kW).

With average gasoline prices (all grades) remaining down from their highs in mid-2008, light trucks continued to outsell cars in January 2009. The Prius mid-size gas-electric hybrid posted January sales of 8,121 units, down 28.6% Ford, Lincoln and Mercury sales totaled 90,596 in January, down 38.9% to 341,113 units.
