As required by the loan agreements signed in December 2008, GM and Chrysler submitted their updated restructuring plans showing a pathway to achieve financial viability to Congress on Tuesday. Elements of the new plan include: GM will sell or phase out the Hummer brand by 31 March, with a final resolution no later than 2010.

Some highlights: The all-new redesigned Prius mid-size gas-electric hybrid posted best-ever July sales of 19,173 units, up 29.7% Ford, Lincoln and Mercury retail sales increased 9% versus a year ago.

The Volt is, and always has been, more than than an electric car. GM will leapfrog Toyota and Honda by providing an electric car to the masses by the end of next year. Ive found it facinating how car commercials changed the main MPG number they promoted before gas went over $4 a gallon as city miles.
