The Oregon Legislative Assembly approved a landmark bill that will commit the state to eliminate its use of coal power by 2035 and double the amount of renewable energy serving Oregonians to 50% by 2040.

One of the common arguments you hear from people in America who are not fans of the idea of electric vehicles is that they are mostly charged from electricity produced from coal power plants. Heavy Coal Using States Accounted for Only 10% of EV Sales in 2020. The argument that EVs are powered mostly from coal simply isn’t true.

Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski signed into law a series of bills constituting a climate change package that includes a low carbon fuel standard (LCFS), a B2 mandate, and other transportation-related measures. The series of bills the Governor signed into law today include: House Bill 2186. House Bill 3463. Senate Bill 101. House Bill 2626.

New geothermal power came on line in Kenya, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Turkey, and Mexico, as well as Oregon, Nevada and Utah in the United States. In Nevada, NV Energy is looking to replace coal plants with 300 MW of renewable energy, including geothermal. Ormat Technologies, and AltaRock Energy.
