GM has been saying for a while now that they had picked their supplier for the LiIon battery in the Volt, but they weren’t prepared to announce who it was. GM Reported Ready To Give Volt Battery Nod to Unit of LG Chem. Lots going on with batteries now, as John O’Dell’s piece below illustrates. that got the nod.

Since it was not a Level 2 charger, I knew it would not gain much juice overnight. On the last day I knew I would have to get a full charge to make it back to Heathrow and leave it with enough juice for the driver who would collect it. Currently the only other cars with an 800-volt systems are the Porsche Taycan and Audi E-Tron GT.

After the car sat for 20 minutes, I had enough juice to get to the auto parts place. I still have to analyze the system more, but here's what I think is happening: The charger can only generate about 175 volts because it gets it's input voltage by rectifying the 120V AC line. volts at 40 degrees F to get to 80% charge.
