Here are some numbers for November 2021- Maruti leads the passenger vehicle sector with sales of 109,726 units - of course Maruti has 0 electric cars in their portfolio, so all of those are pollution cars. I really get pissed off when auto magazines and mainstream media look at EV sales and then say electric cars are the problem.

Three years ago, the magazine Popular Mechanics even wrote an article prodding the auto industry for not building the 100 m.p.g. They reality always seems to be just a few years away, the magazine complained. Americas big gas guzzlers and polluters are not the cars that about half the country drives around.

The objections they raised for years -- "no one is interested, no one would plug in, the technology is too complex, the benefits are minimal, its just shifting the pollution from the tailpipe to the smokestack, theres no demand for these cars" -- still show up occasionally, but are by and large history. The largest category: 39% want PHEVs.
