The BMW Group and Great Wall Motor have launched a new joint venture—Spotlight Automotive Limited—and are building a joint plant in China, where the BMW Group will produce future fully-electric models of its MINI brand. More than 78,000 customers have so far expressed an interest in the MINI ELECTRIC.

The BMW Brilliance plug-in hybrid concept. BMW Group and its Chinese joint venture partner Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd. have presented a concept plug-in hybrid sedan based on the long wheelbase version of the BMW 5 Series Sedan. Series production of the automobile is to start in China in 2013.
