Battery-gasoline hybrids go back more than 20 years to the first Toyota Prius, but real mainstream battery-only electric EVs are only in their second decade. This marketing choice by Ford is either a very bad idea (brand dilution) or a genius plan to move the pony car into the modern era. I’m looking primarily at the U.S.

Asher drives a modified Toyota Prius nicknamed the Spirit of DC and in the back this hybrid has an extra battery boost. At 34 miles per hour, the hybrid uses a mix of gas and electricity. The conversion to the plug-in is not cheap, but a local shop that does the work says electric vehicles are sparking interest.
