Purpose-built electric bikes and e-bike conversions using hub-motors are now commonplace. That got me thinking, how hard would it be, and how much would it cost, to do a simple conversion now? Conversely, the majority of radial flux machines are the asynchronous induction type, whereas most axial flux machines are the PM synchronous type. Needless to say, the combination of rare earth magnets and a carbon fiber composite frame to hold them does not make for a cheap rotor assembly.

Well need to spend some more time with the car to find out how it holds up over longer drives, but the powertrain tech obviously works.
