Electrics just don’t need as much maintenance as gas-powered cars, and even though repairs won’t necessarily be less expensive, they are less frequently needed. These findings on maintenance and repair costs are part of an upcoming white paper by Consumer Reports that compares costs of ownership for electric and gas-powered vehicles.

As described in their white paper, “Evaluation of state-level US electric vehicle incentives”, the researchers found that some of the states with the largest electric vehicle incentives—i.e., Total benefit and electric vehicle sales share for the ten states with the highest sales share of BEVs and PHEVs.
