City of Dalian orders 1,200 BYD electric buses

The municipal government of Dalian, China has signed a cooperative agreement with BYD for the purchase of 600 BYD electric buses in 2014 and another 600 in 2015, totaling 1,200 units. BYD is opening a new electric bus manufacturing facility in the Dalian Huayuankou Economic Zone to service the growing needs of northern China.

BYD e6 EV now available for consumers in China

The BYD e6 electric vehicle ( earlier post ) will now be available for consumer purchases in China; previously, the e6 was only available for fleet purchases. BYD e6s have been in operation in government and taxi fleets for nearly 18 months. The final price to consumers will be ~$38,430 (or 249,800 RMB).

City of Bogota, Columbia launches electric taxi pilot; part of C40-CCI EV Network

The City of Bogota, Colombia, has launched a pilot project to spur the use of electric vehicles in Bogota’s center-city taxi fleet. The first taxis are expected to be operational in the city in the next few months. On 29 December 2011, the City of Bogota enacted Decree No. 677 to support the project over a three-year period.

First European BYD e6 EVs to arrive in Rotterdam City

Report: BYD to test market e6 EV in US in 2011
