There’s a growing number of affordably priced electric motorcycles hitting the US market, but many are still produced overseas. Thanks to a $20M California grant though, electric motorcycle manufacturer RYVID will be able to build its RYVID Anthem bikes in the Golden State and create hundreds of jobs in the process.

Because emergency services require high levels of availability and have an unpredictable demand, retail electric motorcycles are unlikely to present a cost-effective solution.

In September 2016, Kapil Shelke’s Tork Motors unveiled its first product, claiming to be India’s first electric motorcycle. The company’s first electric motorcycle, the TX6, is expected to hit the market soon. After the partial lockdown was lifted, the company sold over 1,000 electric scooters.
