BMW Group and H2 Green Steel have signed a final contract on the delivery of CO 2 -reduced steel. The agreement addresses BMW Group’s upstream scope 3 emissions and includes recycling and end-of-life management measures. Earlier post.). The BMW Group intends to source aluminum with significantly reduced CO 2 emissions from Rio Tinto’s hydro-powered operations in Canada starting in 2024 and has signed a memorandum of understanding to this effect. The BMW Group intends to become one of the first customers to use this technology in standard production.

BMW Group Plant Dingolfing will use heat produced from regional biomass and its own waste wood to meet about 50% of its process hot water requirements from 2025 onwards. This will save BMW Group Plant Dingolfing around 20,000 tonnes of CO 2 per year, compared to using conventional fossil energies.
