The steering is a mix of artificial lightness and appropriate weight. And the interior remains unapologetically BMW, for better or worse. One thing that’s appealing about the Supra – and its nearest rival, the Nissan Z – is that while it’s not exactly cheap, it’s not crazy expensive, either. The flaws remain, too.

So perhaps let’s start with what I noticed before I hooked up my phone, which is that this new Model 3, thanks to a few tweaks to its lights that make them look a bit more BMW/Mazda/Euro-cool, looks better than any before it, and slightly less “egg in a prom dress” than previously.
